Welcome From Our Pastor

Welcome to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church! Ever since 1877 this parish has been assisting souls in their quest for deeper union with God. Pope John Paul II called the parish a “school of prayer” and St. John’s is committed to promoting growth in holiness in every state in life. Each of us is called to live a noble life that abides by the “law of the gift,” namely that we only find true and lasting happiness when we live for God and for others.
While we fight daily temptations toward selfishness, Jesus provides graces through His sacraments so that we may prevail in the good fight of faith. St. John the Baptist parish welcomes every soul that thirsts for God to come and “be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46). This is a vibrant parish that has something for everyone: from our excellent Catholic grade school to our very active PCCW, not to mention the impressive council of the Knights of Columbus, there are ample opportunities to live out one’s Catholic faith at St. John’s. While every soul is unique, the Catholic Church is a treasure chest with so many different means to grow in holiness. Finally, however, it is Our Lord Jesus Christ who is alone “the way, the truth, and the life.” Our patron saint, John the Baptist, got it right when he said about Jesus that “He must increase, I must decrease.” God willing, this is lived out in each of the members of this remarkable parish. If you’re reading this and sense a desire in your heart to grow closer to God, St. John’s is committed to assisting you by our prayers and by the Sacraments. Through the intercession of our Blessed Mother Mary and St. John the Baptist, may you find everything your heart desires in a deeper friendship with Our Lord in His gift of the Eucharist. May God bless and keep you, all the days of your life!
In Christ,
Father James Weighner
