On July 16th a small group of St. John’s parishioners will be heading to Divine Mercy Convent in Tanzania. They will spend nearly two weeks there getting to know the Sisters of Our Lady Queen of Africa, seeing first-hand the convent we helped build, bring gifts that will further help the Sisters in their work, and learn ways we might continue to help them in the future. In planning this trip items were generously given from different groups to be given to the Sisters. So we say to those who contributed, "Asante sana!” (a Swahili word which means thank you very much)
In order to support the Mission Club trip to Tanzania in July, the PCCW recently collected items for an orphanage that is operated by the order of Sisters Our Lady Queen of Africa. Items collected were receiving blankets, sunscreen, duct tape and picture books, which were requested by the nuns as much needed. Many thanks to all the ladies who so generously helped out with this endeavor!
Thanks to the generosity of the Athletic Department at Columbus Catholic High School, members of St. John’s Mission Team will deliver used Don’s soccer uniforms, socks and soccer balls to the girls at St. Theresia’s Secondary School in Sumbawanga, Tanzania. We can’t wait to see the look on their faces when we present their “new” blue and white shorts and jerseys! Thanks to Joe Konieczny, Coach Edwards and Coach Keffer and CCHS for supporting our Mission trip with your amazing donation of soccer uniforms.
