Thank you St. John’s Parish Family! You have done it again! The Thanksgiving Food Collection was a huge success. In addition to our parish families and St. Vincent de Paul, we were able to serve the Hannah Center and the Transitional Shelter. Without your generosity this would not be possible. Thank you for your continued support. Our next "collection" will be in Mar. 2017. Watch the bulletin for further information closer to the date. A huge Thank You to the extra volunteers who gave their time to help with this worthy project.
Successful Parish Mission! Thanks to all who participated in our Christ the King Parish Mission. Father Chris Alar was tremendous and we owe him our prayers in support of all the good he is doing to spread the message of Divine Mercy. The crowds were inspiring and the volunteers who made it all go smoothly were wonderful. For those who would like to listen to the presentations, they’re found on both parish websites (i.e. Christ the King & St. Johns). Let’s thank God for blessing us abundantly as we come to this special Year of Mercy!
Evening of Recollection: The next Evening of Recollection will be held Thursday, Dec. 1st from 6:30-8:00pm. Spiritual Works of Mercy is the theme for the night. The evening will begin by exposing the Blessed Sacrament followed by a half hour meditation. There will be time for silent adoration and confession. Benediction will close the evening. This evening of Recollection will be held at Christ the King.
St. John’s Adult Choir will present an evening of Advent and Christmas music! Join us in the Church on Tuesday, December 13th at 6:30pm.
St. John’s Catholic Book Club: After a bit of a hiatus the parish book club is back in business. We will come together on Nov. 29th to discuss Bella’s Gift: How One Little Girl Transformed Our Family and Inspired A Nation by Rick & Karen Santorum. We choose our books by consensus, not strictly Catholic tomes or authors, but after considering persons or topics we believe we should be aware of as Catholic Christians. For more information call Mari at 715-207-7744.
Angel Tree Christmas: St. John’s Social Justice Committee in partnership with Prison Fellowship & St. Vincent de Paul will once again provide gifts to children of prisoners. Sign up for “angels” will begin the weekend of Nov. 12th-13th in the main church entrance. If “angels” remain they will continue to have sign-up the weekend of Nov. 19th-20th. Gifts should be returned to church, unwrapped but in a box by the weekend of Nov. 26th-27th before Mass. On Nov. 28th committee members will sort and wrap the gifts with a few other helping hands. Arrangements will be made for home gift delivery by parishioners the weekend of Nov. 29th–Dec. 11th. Questions? Contact Jane at 715-387-2019 or Donna at 715-384-3080.
