Our Parish Bake Sale was a great success. Thank you for the wonderful donated items. Thank you for the generosity from all parishioners who purchased the items. Also, thank you to all the helpers that help organize, sell and clean up. Money will be used to help defray the cost of our upcoming mission and other projects that Fr. Martin feels will help our adult parishioners grow in holiness.
St. John’s Parish Family has the opportunity to aid the less fortunate by serving a fellowship meal in the Gathering Room of St. Vincent de Paul Center. We meet on Wednesday, Feb. 24th at 3pm to set up, serve the meal at 5pm and finish with clean-up by 6:30pm. Can you help? Call Richard at 715-387-2763.
St. Joseph’s Table Our parish food collection will begin the weekend of Mar. 5th and run through the weekend of Mar. 13th. Please bring only non-perishable food items. Paper products, laundry detergent, diapers/wipes, and personal care items are also needed. Place donations by the St. Joseph altar. These items will be distributed to those in need in our parish and then shared with St. Vincent de Paul food pantry. Thank you for your generous donations.
New Parish App Coming Soon! In the coming weeks St. John the Baptist and Christ the King will launch our own app for iPhone and Android smart phones. This will allow us to better communicate with you throughout the week and keep you updated with relevant parish news or updates. The app is very well designed and very intuitive. It will be a great resource for parishioners by providing daily Mass readings, Catholic news and prayers, convenient prayer and Confession reminders, our bulletins and more. We hope for our new app to be a tool for fostering stronger parish life at St. John the Baptist and Christ the King and better engaging the New Evangelization. Please watch in the coming weeks for our official launch announcement.
St. John’s and Christ the King welcome Father Maria Dass! Father is a Capuchin priest (remember the Capuchins ran St. Anthony Retreat Center in Marathon for years) and was ordained on January 15th of 1998. Insofar as I was ordained in 1999, you now have a more seasoned and wiser priest living in the rectory! Father Maria Dass was a missionary in Zimbabwe for 10 years and has also served as Rector of a Seminary in India. Father came to La Crosse this past fall and has been faithfully serving the people in Viroqua these past few months. Father Maria Dass looks forward to his time with us and meeting you. Let’s give him a warm welcome (it will be the only warm thing Father will experience for a long time)!
