CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NEW PRIESTS
As we await Fr Daniel’s arrival, I asked him for a short introduction so we can get to know a little about him before his arrival at the end of July. Please keep Fr Daniel in your prayers during this month of transformation as he is
preparing to serve our parish and school family as a priest.
My name is Father Daniel Williams and I was recently ordained for the Diocese of La Crosse on June 27, 2020. I was born in New Bern, North Carolina to my parents, Dan and Tina, in 1993 and was raised there until my family moved to Stanley, Wisconsin in 2008. I have three sisters: Melissa, 35; Sadie, 25; and Grace, 19. Growing up in North Carolina I was blessed to be able to attend St. Paul Education Center through eighth grade. This valuable time in Catholic school is where I began to experience a subtle call to consider the priesthood. I went to Stanley-Boyd High School where I graduated in 2011.
It was during that time that I began to go on vocation retreats and develop a prayer life. In my senior year I heard the Lord very clearly call me to enter the seminary. That Fall I entered St. John Vianney College Seminary on the campus of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, Minnesota. My four years there were transformative and solidified for me my own personal call to the priesthood. At St. Thomas, I received a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Catholic Studies. After college seminary I was asked by the diocese to undergo a pastoral year at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish in La Crosse. My time living and working at the parish was a great blessing for me and made me desire parish ministry all the more. I was then assigned to attend St. Francis de Sales Seminary in Milwaukee while taking classes at Sacred Heart Seminary and School of Theology which is nearby. This Spring I completed my Masters of Divinity and Masters of Arts degrees online due to the current pandemic. I have been stationed at Notre Dame Parish in Chippewa Falls since mid-March. I am looking forward to my first priestly assignment at St. John’s and Columbus Middle School at the end of July. Know that I have been praying for you all since I heard of my assignment and continued prayers. Please pray for me as I begin my priestly vocation and begin ministry in our parish.
