Movie of the Month: The featured movie for Nov. 6th is Of Gods and Men. Loosely based on the life of the Cistercian monks of Tibehirne in Algeria from 1993 until their kidnapping in 1996. This is a tale of Faith and Heroism! We will watch this on the big screen in the Columbia room at 1:00pm. Feel free to bring snacks!
Fellowship Meals at St Vincent St John’s Parish Family has the opportunity to aid the less fortunate in our area by serving a fellowship meal in the Gathering Room of St Vincent de Paul. Meals are served on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. St John’s Parish volunteers have been serving a meal the last Wednesday of every other month. Volunteers are also needed to serve the meal one Friday a month.. Following are the details in putting on a meal:
-Food is provided, often by KC’s, the hospital, and local businesses
-Duties include setting-up the room, heating the food, serving guests and cleaning-up.
-Volunteers are needed from 3-6:00pm with most help needed between 4:45-6:30.
-It is best to have 6 to 7 volunteers each night. Dates of future meals: Fri., Oct. 21st, Wed., Oct. 26th (contact Richard - 715-387-2763) Fri. Nov.18th and Wed., Nov.23rd. Please consider participating in this important, rewarding service. If you are able to help at any of these meals, please call Donna at 715-384-3080.
PCCW NEWS: The PCCW is in need of raffle items for their Christmas Sweepstakes. A few suggestions are: handmade afghans/ blankets, gift certificates (ex: restaurant/gas/grocery), themed baskets, hotel stay, and religious items. Your donations are greatly appreciated! Questions? Night of Adoration for the Election: Please join us at St. John’s as we pray for the future of our country. We’ll be adoring Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament beginning at 6:00pm on Sunday, November 6th and will conclude with Benediction at 6:50am (just before the 7:00 am Mass). You’re welcome to come at any time. In a time of widespread confusion and unrest, we come together and beg Our Lord to send us the Holy Spirit, that we might know God’s will and have the courage to follow it. Sign up sheets for each hour will be available at St. John’s beginning on October 29th.
Thanksgiving Food Drive: Beginning on Sat., Oct. 29th and ending on Sunday, Nov.6th you can bring items for our Thanksgiving food collection. Please bring only non-perishable food items and no outdated food. There is a great need for personal care items, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, paper products, newborn diapers and wipes. Please call the parish office if you or someone you know could use assistance at this time. All is confidential. The items collected will be distributed to those in need in our parish, St. Vincent de Paul food pantry, the Hannah Center, & the Transitional Shelter. Thank you for your generosity towards this food drive!

The PCCW will meet on Tuesday, Nov. 8th at 6:30pm in the Columbia room. All ladies of the parish are members of the PCCW and are invited to join us to hear about the many good things we are involved in. The Director of the Frederic Ozanam Transitional Shelter will present a program on the shelter. Please bring paper products, cleaning supplies, toiletries or non-perishable food items to donate. Per usual, bingo will be played and refreshments served after the business meeting.
