St. John’s Parish Family has the opportunity to aid the less fortunate in our area by serving a fellowship meal in the Gathering Room of St. Vincent de Paul Center. We meet on Dec. 30th, at 3pm to set up, serve the meal at 5pm and finish with clean-up by 6:30pm. If you are able to help, call Richard - 715-387-2763.
Unbound: Please welcome Fr. David Noone the weekend of Jan. 9th/10th as he comes to St. John’s to speak to us about the work being done by Unbound (previously known as Christian Foundation for Children and Aging) Unbound is a lay Catholic ministry that has served more than 600,000 children and elderly in 20 developing countries since 1981. It is a unique sponsorship program that matches a child, or aging person with a sponsor in the U. S. who cares about and encourages that person. For about a dollar a day, a sponsor helps to provide much-needed nourishing food, medical and dental care, the chance for a child to go to school and much more. All of these efforts are directed at affirming the dignity of every person in their local community. Folders for children and elderly who are waiting to be sponsored will be available after Masses for anyone interested in being a sponsor.
Teaching the Way of Love: Jeff Arrowood will present this talk to parents and their children in grades 8 - 10 on Wednesday, January 6th. It will be held in the Columbia room from 6:15 - 8:15pm. Adolescence is a time of great change for youth and that change can be confusing. Parents are the ones that create a firm and secure foundation from which a young adult can confidently become the person that God intends them to be. Topics Mr. Arrowood will cover are highlights from Theology of the Body, Self Worth vs. Self Esteem, Marriage in God’s Plan as well as hold vital discussions. All CCD 8th grade students should report to the Columbia room for this presentation rather than going to your classroom. For more information, contact Deb Mlsna at 715-659-4480.
