Basement Ballast Updates, Successful Parish Mission, & More

Basement ballast: Our unfinished church basement is finally getting a floor. After consultations with engineers and other sundry experts the advantages of pouring a floor in the basement of the church far outweigh the usual concern of cost. Advantages include improved structural strength, protection of furnaces and walls from moisture, not to mention having a warmer basement means a warmer church with no increase in energy costs (and probably a significant reduction). You may have noticed the smell of dirt at different times over the years, as it emanated up from the basement anytime we had work to do down there. That era is coming to an end and you can follow the work being done by checking out our website (click on "Parish News").

Mission Accomplished: We thank God for an incredibly inspiring parish mission! Please check out the parish website (stjohnsmarshfield.org) to listen to the presentations. Sincere thanks to all who made this remarkable opportunity possible: our musicians, our ushers, our indefatigable Education committee, our wonderful speakers, and all of you who faithfully attended. May God, who has begun great things during our parish mission, bring them to fulfillment one day in Heaven!

Movie of the Month: The featured movie for March is 12 Angry Men starring Henry Fonda. If you like powerful, suspenseful, and fascinating movies, you won’t want to miss out! We will watch this on the big screen in the Columbia room at 3:00pm. Snacks are allowed!!

There is a box located in the back of church until the end of March for you to discard old palms. Since they were blessed, they should not be thrown away They will be burned and buried properly.

For those of you who wish to bring Easter Lilies or a spring plant in memory of a loved one to decorate our altar this Easter Season, you may bring them to the chapel after the Good Friday 12:15pm service until 5:00pm. Please be sure to include a card with the name of your loved one. If you wish to make a monetary donation you may also do so, make sure you have envelope marked Easter flowers with your name and whom it is in memory of.

St. Joseph’s Table Our Parish food collection begins this weekend and runs through March 13th. Donations should be given by noon on Sunday. Please place donations by the St. Joseph altar. These items will be distributed to those in need in our parish and then shared with St. Vincent de Paul food pantry.

Thank you for making the PCCW Soup Sale a success. Proceeds will assist families of St. John’s have a happy Easter.Your generous support is greatly appreciated.
