Mother Streitel Center and Saint John Paul II Adoration Chapel
This project is set to begin in June with a targeted completion date of November 1st. Dedicated in honor of Venerable Mother Streitel, this project will build a bridge from the selfless Sisters who served the sick to faithful followers of Our Lord who will continue to build up the Body of Christ. The Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother have donated to us the Altar that was in Saint Joseph’s Hospital chapel, as well as three priceless stained glass windows, and other liturgical accoutrements. Moreover, we will also install the Communion rails from the chapel of the School Sisters of Notre Dame, whose convent sat just north of the school for many years. Finally, the Adoration Chapel will continue to be named in honor of Saint John Paul II and will now be graced with a 1st class relic of this remarkable Pope.
For those who want to be a part of this project, we’re accepting donations in honor of the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother and your loved ones.
NOTE: Mea culpa! I’m sorry for the confusion I have caused regarding the Mother Streitel project. When I listed the items that could be sponsored, I really only intended to drum up interest and let people know that the money would be going to a good cause. However, we will not be putting a plaque on each item in the way that is sometimes done to raise funds. Rather, we will honor all of our generous benefactors by naming them (or whoever they’re honoring with their gift) on a prominent plaque in the main lobby. Only the stained glass windows will have individual plaques as that matches the model given us in the main church upstairs. When you call Pam and want to make a donation, you’re welcome to say, “I’d like this to be used for ________.” But please know that it will go into the general account paying for the project: this also includes plumbing costs, electrical fees, heating and cooling expenses, etc. I hope this clarifies things a bit more. Again, I’m sorry for the confusion I caused. - Father Martin
For example, the stained glass windows have already been financially sponsored and will be given a plaque in the same way as the stained glass windows in our church (but in English, not German). Should you like to contribute to this inspiring project, please do so by contacting the parish office and speaking with Pam Housworth. The project will include the following items that can be sponsored:
4) Bathrooms(one in the Mother Streitel Center, one in the cryroom upstairs)
5) New stair well between the sacristy and the basement
6) Gathering space in Mother Streitel Center
7) Signage for Mother Streitel Center, JPII Adoration Chapel
8) New doors for exterior and interior
10) Lighting and acoustic measures
11) Canopy for main entrance
12) Ramp for wheelchair access
13) Exterior stone for walls
14) And many other opportunities!
All benefactors will be recognized by a plaque that will grace the main entrance of the Mother Streitel Center. God willing, this project will help souls grow closer to Jesus for many generations to come!
